Drop Off Junk Removal Services In MO & IL (By Appointment Only) – MrJunk®
Local, Family-owned crews Allowing Junk Drop Off across Missouri & Illinois since 2005
Got Your Own Wheels? Missouri & Illinois Junk Drop Off Services
Got a truck full of junk and tired of dealing with popped tires and dump lines longer than a Black Friday checkout?
Last week, a client texted us a photo of his trailer loaded with renovation debris and said, “I’ve been sitting in line at the county dump for 45 minutes. Can I just bring this to you guys instead?”
That’s exactly why we offer junk drop-off services. But here’s the thing, we’re not a dump. We’re not a landfill. And we’re definitely not open to the public without an appointment.
We are a licensed junk removal service offering a more affordable alternative for individuals who can haul their own items but want the peace of mind that comes with professional, responsible disposal.
Think of it like this: you do the heavy lifting and driving, we handle the sorting, recycling, donating, and proper disposal. You save money, we save time, and your junk gets handled the right way instead of just being buried somewhere.
Since 2005, we’ve been helping people throughout Missouri and Illinois get rid of their unwanted items responsibly. Our drop-off service is perfect for DIYers, contractors, landlords, and anyone else who’s got access to a truck but wants to avoid the headache of figuring out where everything needs to go.
Why Choose MrJunk® Drop-Off Instead of the Dump?
Let’s be honest about why people consider dropping off with us instead of heading to the county dump. It’s not just about cost, though you’ll definitely save money. It’s about avoiding the stuff that makes dump runs a pain in the rear.
We Actually Answer Our Phones
Try calling the dump on a Saturday morning. Good luck with that. We’re available seven days a week, and when you text us photos of what you want to drop off, we actually respond. Usually within a few hours, sometimes within minutes.
No Vehicle Damage Lottery
Ever seen what dump sites do to vehicles? We’ve had customers tell us horror stories about flat tires from metal scraps, scratched paint from flying debris, and trailers that got dinged by other people’s careless dumping. Our drop-off locations are clean, organized, and designed to protect your vehicle while you unload.
We Know Where Everything Goes
Here’s something most people don’t think about: the dump might take your stuff, but they’re not necessarily handling it responsibly. We sort everything, donate what we can to local charities, recycle materials properly, and dispose of the rest through licensed facilities. Your old furniture might find a new home instead of just taking up space in a landfill.
No Confusing Fee Structures
County dumps love their complicated pricing. “Well, that’s $150 for the first 100 pounds, but if you have more than 200 pounds, it’s $250, unless it’s after 3 PM on a Tuesday, then it’s…” You get the picture. We provide you with one price upfront, typically over the phone after you send us photos. No surprises, no weird surcharges, no “oh, by the way” fees when you show up.
Actually Licensed and Insured
This matters more than you might think. If something goes wrong during your drop-off, like equipment malfunction, accident, whatever, we’re covered. And more importantly, so are you. Try getting that peace of mind at your typical dump site.
How Our Drop-Off Service Works
We’ve streamlined this process because nobody wants to spend their Saturday dealing with complicated junk disposal logistics. Here’s how it actually works, step by step, no corporate nonsense.
Step 1: Text Us Photos (Seriously, That Simple)
Pull out your phone. Take pictures of what you want to drop off. Text them to us. Include a quick note about how much stuff you’ve got and when you’re hoping to drop it off.
“Hey, got a truck load of old furniture and some yard waste from our garage cleanout. Can we drop this off tomorrow afternoon?”
That’s it. We’ll look at the photos, confirm we can take everything, and give you a price quote. Most of the time, this whole conversation takes less than an hour.
Step 2: We Confirm Everything (And Set Your Appointment)
Once we see your photos, we’ll let you know if we can take everything you’ve got. Most stuff? Absolutely. But we’ll be upfront if there’s something we can’t handle.
We’ll also give you the exact address of our drop-off location (Columbia area, Sunrise Beach/Lake Ozarks area, or Alton/Godfrey Illinois area), driving directions if you need them, and a time window that works for both of us.
Step 3: You Show Up, We Unload Fast
This isn’t like other drop-off situations where you’re on your own. Our team will be there to help you unload quickly and safely. We’ve got the equipment to handle heavy items, and we know how to do it without damaging your vehicle or taking all day.
Most drop-offs take 15 minutes or less. You back up, we unload, you pay, you leave. Done.
Step 4: We Handle Everything Else
After you leave, we sort through everything, separate items that can be donated to local charities, identify materials that can be recycled, and dispose of the rest responsibly. You don’t have to think about any of this—it just happens.
What We Take (And What We Don’t)
Since this is by appointment only, we can be pretty flexible about what we accept. But there are definitely some things we can’t take, both for legal reasons and safety reasons.
What We Definitely Take:
- Furniture: Couches, tables, chairs, mattresses, dressers, entertainment centers
- Appliances: Refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, microwaves
- Electronics: TVs, computers, printers, stereos, old phones, gaming systems
- Yard Waste: Branches, leaves, grass clippings, garden debris
- Construction Debris: Drywall, lumber, flooring, fixtures (non-hazardous)
- General Household Items: Clothing, books, decorations, sports equipment
- Office Equipment: Desks, filing cabinets, chairs, computers, printers
What We Can’t Take:
- Hazardous Materials: Lead paint, toxic unknown chemicals, oil, asbestos
- Vehicles Without Titles: Cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, rvs, planes
- Biohazardous Materials: Medical waste, contaminated items, anything potentially infectious
- Gray Area Items (Just Ask): If you’re unsure, just text us and we’ll discuss
Some things depend on quantity, condition, or local disposal regulations. When in doubt, include them in your photos and we’ll let you know. We’ve probably dealt with whatever weird item you’ve got.
When Drop-Off Makes Perfect Sense
Not every situation calls for drop-off service, but when it does, it really does. Here are the times when our customers find drop-off to be the perfect solution.
DIY Cleanouts and Renovations
You’re already renting a truck or trailer for a home project. You’ve got the time and energy to load everything yourself. You just want a reliable place to take it all that won’t give you the runaround.
“We were already renting a truck to haul renovation debris. Instead of making three trips to different facilities, we texted MrJunk and dropped everything off in one trip.”
Contractor and Business Needs
Contractors love our drop-off service because it’s predictable. No waiting in dump lines, no surprise fees, no “sorry, we don’t take that” conversations. Text photos, get approval, drop off, done.
Small business owners use it too, especially for office cleanouts or retail renovations where they’re already handling the logistics but want professional disposal.
Moving and Downsizing
When you’re already renting a moving truck, adding unwanted items to the load and dropping them off with us can be more efficient than scheduling a separate pickup.
“We had a U-Haul anyway for our move. Loaded all the stuff we didn’t want to take and dropped it off with MrJunk® on our way out of town.”
Landlord and Property Management
Property managers dealing with tenant turnovers often prefer drop-off service. They can handle multiple units, load everything into one truck, and make a single drop-off trip instead of scheduling multiple pickups.
Emergency Situations
Sometimes life doesn’t wait for convenient scheduling. Storm damage, sudden moves, family emergencies—when you need stuff gone now and you’ve got the means to haul it, drop-off can be the fastest solution.
Other Ways We Can Help At The Same Time
Since you’re already dealing with junk removal, there are probably other ways we can help. Most of our drop-off customers end up needing additional services at some point.
If You’ve Got More Than One Load
Sometimes one truck load turns into two or three. If you’re facing a bigger cleanout than you initially thought, we can switch gears and provide full pickup service for the rest. No need to make multiple drop-off trips if it’s not practical.
Curbside Pickup for the Stuff You Can’t Haul
Maybe you can handle the furniture and light debris, but that old refrigerator or piano is beyond your truck’s capabilities. We can do a combination, you drop off what you can, we pick up what you can’t.
Dumpster Rental for Ongoing Projects
If you’re in the midst of a renovation or major cleanout that will generate debris over several weeks, a dumpster rental may be more practical than multiple drop-off trips. While we do have dumpsters available in Columbia, MO, we do not yet offer this service at our other locations.
Scrap Metal Recycling
Got metal items that might have value? We can separate those out and handle them through our scrap metal recycling program. Sometimes there’s enough value to offset part of your disposal costs.
Eco-Friendly: We Donate & Recycle First, Landfill Last
This might not be your primary concern when you’re trying to get rid of junk, but it’s worth knowing that choosing MrJunk® for drop-off service means your unwanted items are being handled responsibly.
Donation Partnerships
We work with local charities throughout Missouri and Illinois. Your old furniture, household items, and electronics might find new homes with families who need them.
Recycling Programs
We separate metals, electronics, and other recyclable materials and send them to appropriate recycling facilities. It’s more work for us, but it’s the right thing to do.
Proper Disposal
For items that can’t be donated or recycled, we use licensed disposal facilities that meet environmental standards. Your junk doesn’t just disappear, it gets handled properly.
MrJunk® Drop-Off Junk Removal Service Pricing
Here’s the honest truth about drop-off pricing: it’s considerably less than our full pickup service because you’re doing the loading and driving. However, it’s not free, as we still have to do the sorting, donating, recycling, and proper disposal.
Why There’s Still a Fee:
Even though you’re bringing stuff to us, we’re still providing value:
- Professional sorting and processing
- Donation coordination with local charities
- Proper recycling through licensed facilities
- Responsible disposal of non-recyclable items
- Insurance coverage during the entire process
- Licensed disposal documentation
How We Quote:
Most of the time, we can give you an accurate quote over the phone after seeing your photos. The price depends on:
- How much stuff you’ve got
- What types of materials we’re dealing with
- Any special handling requirements
- Local disposal fees for certain items
Typical Savings:
Compared to our full-service pickup, you’ll usually save 30-50%, or more, by dropping off yourself. Compared to county dump fees, it varies, but you’re getting a lot more service for your money.

FAQ’s About Drop-Off Junk Removal & Disposal
Can I just show up without calling first?
Nope. By appointment only, and we mean it. We’re not staffed for random drop-offs, and we need to approve items beforehand anyway. But scheduling is usually easy and quick, text us photos and we’ll set it up.
What if I have stuff you can’t take?
We’ll tell you upfront after seeing your photos. And we’ll usually suggest where you can take the items we can’t handle. After nearly 20 years in this business, we know where everything goes.
Is this cheaper than just having you pick it up?
Usually, yeah. You’re saving us time, gas, and labor, so we pass those savings along. But if you’re dealing with a huge cleanout or you don’t have access to a truck, full pickup service might make more sense.
How long does the actual drop-off take?
Most drop-offs are done in 15 minutes or less. We’re not trying to drag this out, you want to get going, and we want to get back to work.
Do you take stuff that other places won’t?
Within reason, yes. We’re licensed to handle a wider variety of materials than most dump sites. But we still have legal and safety limitations, no hazardous materials, no vehicles without titles, stuff like that.
What happens to my stuff after I drop it off?
We sort everything, donate usable items to local charities, recycle what we can, and dispose of the rest through licensed facilities. Your old furniture might end up helping a family in need instead of just taking up space in a landfill.
Can I get a receipt for my records?
Absolutely. We provide documentation for all our services, including drop-offs. Useful for insurance claims, business records, or just your own peace of mind.
