RV, Camper Van, & Travel Trailer Removal Services Across Missouri & Illinois – MrJunk®
Local, Family-owned Crew providing RV & Camper Van Removal across MO & IL Since 2005
Recreational Vehicle, Motor Home, Camper Van, & Travel Trailer Removal In MO & IL
Remember when that RV in your driveway was going to be the ticket to family adventures across America? Yeah, so do we. We’ve hauled away enough “someday we’ll fix it up” motorhomes to fill a small campground.
Last month alone, we removed a 1978 Winnebago that had been “just temporarily parked” behind someone’s barn for fifteen years. The mice had built a three-bedroom apartment inside, complete with what appeared to be a dining room set made entirely of acorns.
Here’s the thing about RVs that have settled into retirement: they don’t improve with age like fine wine. They develop character like a leaking roof, flat tires that have fused with the driveway, and a distinct eau de “what died in there?” that no amount of pine-scented air fresheners can mask.
That’s exactly why folks across Missouri and Illinois call MrJunk® when it’s time to say goodbye to their rolling rust buckets.
Whether it’s a Class A motorhome that’s become a deluxe chicken coop, a pop-up camper that permanently popped down, or a vintage Airstream that’s turned into an expensive yard ornament, we handle RV removal with the same professional care we bring to every cleanout.
From rural properties where GPS gives up trying to find you, to suburban driveways where the HOA has started sending strongly worded letters, we’ve got the equipment, expertise, and, honestly, the sense of humor to handle whatever recreational vehicle situation you’re dealing with.
Why RV Owners Choose MrJunk® For Our Removal Services
We’ve been hauling away Missouri and Illinois’s unwanted RVs since 2005, and let us tell you, we’ve seen some things. We’ve removed motorhomes where the previous owners tried to convert them into greenhouses (spoiler alert: they leaked). We’ve hauled away campers that had been used as temporary storage for “just a few months” and ended up housing everything from Christmas decorations to what appeared to be a complete set of 1990s exercise equipment.
What sets us apart from the guys with a pickup truck and a prayer:
- We Actually Show Up, unlike that cousin who promised to “help you move it when he gets time.” We arrive when we say we will. Our crews are uniformed, professional, and equipped with the right tools to handle RVs that have seen better decades.
- We handle the Weird Stuff, that Airstream from 1965 that’s half-buried in kudzu? We’ve got winches. That motorhome with the custom-built deck someone attached to the roof? We’ve got that too. We specialize in the RV removal situations that make other companies suddenly remember they have somewhere else to be.
- Licensed, Insured, and Actually Qualified. Our teams are trained in large vehicle dismantling, licensed to operate the equipment needed for RV removal, and insured for those moments when physics gets interesting. When you’re dealing with something that used to weigh several tons and is currently held together by rust and determination, you want professionals handling it.
- We Know Rural Access Like Our Own Backyard. Got an RV stuck behind three barns, two tractors, and a goat that doesn’t like strangers? We’ve been there. Rural Missouri and Illinois properties come with their own set of challenges, and we’ve learned to navigate everything from seasonal creek crossings to driveways that exist only in theory.
The MrJunk® RV & Motor Home Removal Process
Here’s how we turn your RV problem into an RV memory:
Free Assessment (We Come to You)
We’ll come out to your property and assess the situation. This isn’t just about looking at the RV, we need to figure out how to get it out of wherever it’s currently residing. Some RVs have been parked so long they’ve essentially become part of the landscape. We once removed a travel trailer that had a full-grown oak tree growing through the awning.
Our assessment covers access routes, ground conditions (especially important if your RV has been slowly sinking into the earth), and what equipment we’ll need. We also check for any environmental concerns, old RVs can leak fuel, oil, or other fluids that need special handling.
Upfront, Honest Pricing
No surprises, no “oh, by the way” charges that appear after we’ve started. We quote based on the actual situation, not some corporate pricing matrix that assumes all RVs are parked on level concrete in perfect weather conditions.
Coordination and Timing
We work around your schedule and the weather. RV removal in Missouri and Illinois means dealing with seasons that change their minds faster than a teenager choosing a college major. We can schedule around ground conditions, access issues, and your availability.
Professional Removal
Our crews arrive with the right equipment for your specific situation. Sometimes that means towing. Sometimes it means dismantling on-site. And sometimes it means creative problem-solving that would impress a NASA engineer. We’ve removed RVs from backyards that required taking them apart piece by piece, and we’ve hauled away motorhomes that needed to be winched out of situations their original owners never imagined.
Proper Disposal and Recycling
We don’t just dump your old RV in the nearest field and hope for the best. We work with licensed facilities to ensure proper disposal of everything from the shell to the appliances to the old propane tanks. Whatever parts can be recycled, we make sure they get to the right places.
Types of RV & Travel Trailer Removal We Handle
Motorhomes (Class A, B, and C)
These are the big boys, the ones that look like buses decided to become houses. We’ve removed everything from vintage 1970s motorhomes with shag carpet that had achieved sentience, to modern Class A coaches that were purchased with the best intentions but ended up being very expensive lawn ornaments.
Class A motorhomes present unique challenges. They’re big, they’re heavy, and they often have multiple systems that have failed in creative ways. We’ve got the equipment to handle them whether they’re still mobile or have become permanent fixtures in your landscape.
Class B and C motorhomes (the van-based and truck-chassis ones) are usually easier to move, unless they’ve been sitting long enough for the tires to become one with the earth. We handle all sizes with the same professional approach.
Travel Trailers and Fifth Wheels
These are the ones that were designed to be towed behind your truck, back when your truck was newer and your back was stronger. We’ve removed travel trailers from every conceivable location, behind barns, beside sheds, under carports that were never designed to hold them, and in one memorable case, partially inside a garage where someone had attempted to store it and seriously misjudged the measurements.
Fifth wheels require special attention because of their unique hitching system. Even when they’re not connected to anything, they can be tricky to move if they’ve settled into position over the years.
Pop-Up Campers
These seemed like such a good idea when you bought them. Compact when folded, spacious when deployed, and perfect for family camping trips. Unfortunately, “pop-up” can become “permanently popped down” after a few Missouri winters. We’ve removed pop-ups that haven’t popped up since the Clinton administration.
Vintage and Classic RVs
That 1960s Airstream was going to be your retirement restoration project. The 1970s Winnebago was going to be converted into a tiny house. The 1980s Fleetwood was going to become a cool guesthouse. And then life happened, and now you’re looking at what appears to be a very expensive collection of spare parts held together by hope and duct tape.
Vintage RVs present their own challenges. They were built differently than modern units, often with materials and methods that seem quaint by today’s standards. We approach vintage RV removal with the understanding that these units have history, even if that history is mostly rust and regret.
Abandoned and Derelict RVs
Sometimes we’re called to remove RVs that have been abandoned on properties, left behind by tenants, inherited with land purchases, or just forgotten about until they became someone else’s problem. These situations often require additional coordination with local authorities, title searches, or other legal considerations.
We handle all the paperwork and coordination so you don’t have to become an expert in abandoned vehicle law. We just need to make sure we’re following all the proper procedures for disposal.
Situations That Call for Professional RV Removal
- The Inheritance Special You inherited the family property, and with it came Uncle Bob’s “project” RV that’s been sitting behind the barn since the Reagan administration. Uncle Bob had big plans for that motorhome. He was going to tour the country, write a book, maybe start a blog about life on the road. Instead, it became a very expensive storage unit for broken lawn mowers and Christmas decorations.
- The HOA Ultimatum Your suburban HOA has finally noticed that your “temporary” RV parking situation has entered its fifth year. They’ve sent letters. They’ve held meetings. They’ve probably formed a committee specifically to discuss your RV situation. Time to make it disappear before they start measuring your grass with rulers.
- The Real Estate Reality Check You’re trying to sell your property, and potential buyers keep asking about the “unique outdoor structure” in your backyard. Your realtor has tactfully suggested that the 1980s Winnebago might not be adding to your property value the way you hoped it would.
- The Environmental Concern Your RV has started leaving stains on the ground. There are fluids leaking that you can’t identify, and you’re pretty sure some of them aren’t supposed to be that color. You’re worried about soil contamination, groundwater issues, or just the general principle that things shouldn’t leak mysterious substances in your yard.
- The Wildlife Hotel Your RV has been colonized by creatures that weren’t on the original floor plan. We’ve seen RVs that had become bee hives, bird sanctuaries, and in one case, what appeared to be a small ecosystem complete with its own weather patterns.
- The Weather Victim Missouri and Illinois weather can be tough on RVs. We’ve removed units damaged by tornadoes, straight-line winds, hail storms, and flooding. Sometimes nature decides your RV’s retirement should be immediate and non-negotiable.
What We Can’t Take (And Where You Should Go Instead)
We handle almost every RV situation, but there are a few things we can’t do:
- RVs with Clear Title Issues If there are title or ownership questions, those need to be resolved before removal. We can point you in the right direction for handling title issues.
- RVs with Hazardous Materials Beyond normal fuel and fluids, some older RVs may contain asbestos, lead paint, or other hazardous materials that require specialized handling. We can refer you to appropriate specialists.
- RVs in Active Legal Disputes If the RV is part of a legal proceeding, we need proper authorization before removal. We’re happy to work with attorneys and courts to handle these situations properly.
Rural Property RV & Camper Removal
Rural properties present their own set of challenges for RV removal. We’ve navigated everything from driveways that are more like suggestions than actual roads, to properties where the RV is located somewhere between “back there” and “you can’t miss it” (narrator: you can absolutely miss it).
- Seasonal Access Considerations Spring mud season can make rural roads impassable. Summer growth can hide access routes that were clear in winter. Fall leaves can disguise hazards that weren’t there in summer. Winter ice can make everything more complicated. We plan our rural RV removals around these seasonal challenges.
- Ground Conditions and Stability RVs that have been parked in the same spot for years tend to settle into the ground. In clay soil, they can sink. In sandy soil, they can shift. We assess ground conditions before attempting removal to avoid creating a bigger problem than we started with.
- Power Lines and Tree Clearance Rural properties often have RVs parked under trees that have grown around them over the years. We check clearances carefully and coordinate with utility companies when necessary. We’ve removed RVs that required tree trimming, power line coordination, and in one case, a brief negotiation with a very territorial rooster.
MrJunk® RV, Camper, & Travel Trailer Removal Pricing & Process
RV removal costs depend on several factors, and we’re upfront about all of them:
- Size and Type of RV A pop-up camper is different from a 40-foot Class A motorhome. Bigger units require more equipment, more crew, and more time. We price accordingly.
- Access and Location An RV parked on level concrete next to a road is different from one that’s been hiding behind a barn for fifteen years. Difficult access requires additional equipment and time.
- Condition and Mobility An RV that can still be towed is different from one that needs to be dismantled on-site. We assess the condition and plan our approach accordingly.
- Environmental Factors RVs with fuel, oil, or other fluid leaks require special handling and disposal. We factor these costs into our estimates.
- Additional Services Sometimes RV removal includes clearing out personal belongings, dismantling attached structures, or coordinating with other service providers. We can handle all of this as part of our service.
We provide free estimates and explain exactly what’s included in our pricing. No surprises, no hidden fees, no “oh, by the way” charges that appear after we’ve started work.
Getting Ready for Us (Or Don’t, We’re Flexible)
- Clear the Area If possible, remove any personal items from inside the RV. We can handle this as part of our service, but it’s more cost-effective if you can do it beforehand.
- Provide Access Information Let us know about any access challenges, locked gates, seasonal road conditions, angry animals, or other obstacles we should know about.
- Utility Coordination If the RV is connected to power, water, or sewer, plan to have these disconnected before we arrive. We can coordinate with utility companies if needed.
- Neighbor Notification RV removal can be interesting for neighbors to watch. They probably won’t be able to resist observing the process. That’s normal. We’re used to being the neighborhood entertainment.
What Happens After We Leave
- Your Property Back The most obvious result is that you get your space back. That area where the RV was sitting is now available for whatever you want to do with it. Garden, parking, storage building, or just enjoying the view without a rusting motorhome in it.
- Proper Disposal Documentation We provide documentation of proper disposal when required. This is important for environmental compliance and for your own records.
- Peace of Mind No more worrying about leaking fluids, structural collapse, or code enforcement visits. No more explaining to visitors why you have a defunct RV taking up space in your yard.
- Options for Follow-Up Services Sometimes RV removal reveals other cleanup needs. We can help with ground restoration, debris removal, or other cleanup services that might be needed after the RV is gone.
Other Ways We Can Help, While Already On Your Property
- Boat Removal: RVs and boats often hang out together on properties. If you’ve got both that need to go, we can handle them in the same visit.
- Barn Cleanouts: Many RVs are stored in barns or outbuildings that also need clearing. We can handle the entire cleanup project.
- Scrap Metal Recycling: RV removal often reveals other metal items that need disposal. We can handle all your scrap metal needs.
- Property Cleanouts: Sometimes RV removal is part of a larger property cleanup project. We can coordinate comprehensive property clearing services.
- Construction Debris Removal: If you’re planning construction or renovation after the RV is removed, we can handle debris removal for those projects, too.

FAQ’s About RV & Travel Trailer Removal
Can you remove an RV that’s been sitting for years?
Yes, absolutely. We’ve removed RVs that had been parked so long they’d become part of the local ecosystem. Time doesn’t make RV removal impossible, it just makes it more interesting.
What if my RV is in a challenging location?
We specialize in difficult access situations. We’ve removed RVs from backyards accessible only through narrow gates, from behind buildings with limited clearance, and from locations that required creative problem-solving. If you can get to it, we can probably remove it.
Do you handle RVs with environmental issues?
Yes, with proper precautions. We assess environmental concerns during our estimate and plan our approach accordingly. We work with licensed disposal facilities to handle contaminated materials properly.
Can you remove just part of an RV?
Yes, sometimes partial removal makes sense, like when you want to remove the living portion while leaving the chassis, or removing attachments that have been added over the years. We can customize our service to your specific needs.
What about RVs that are still titled and registered?
In order to take your RV it must have a clear title that is presented and given at the time of pickup. Without this paperwork and matching VIN numbers, we are not allowed to dispose of it properly, and unfortunately, we aren’t running a personal storage facility on our owners’ properties.
Do you work in all weather conditions?
We schedule around weather conditions that would make RV removal unsafe or impossible. Missouri and Illinois weather can be unpredictable, and we plan accordingly.
Can you remove RVs from commercial properties?
Yes, absolutely. We work with business owners, property managers, and commercial property owners to remove RVs from storage yards, rental properties, and commercial sites. As long as you have a clear title, we will take it away.
What if I want to keep some parts of the RV?
We can coordinate partial dismantling if you want to salvage specific components. Just let us know during the estimate process what you’d like to keep.
